As many of you may know, free radicals are not as good as they sound. In fact, free radicals can have a very negative impact on your body. Everything from your growth and recovery to your immune system can be hindered from the onset of too many free radicals.
This is where Myotrend and Psupplements.com have got you covered with Antioxcene. Antioxcene is not just your average vitamin blend. Antioxcene from MyoTrend uses a unique spectrum of Anti-Oxidants, Vitamins, Trace Minerals and Dietary Polyphenols, formulated to maximize anyone’s ability to recover from stress induced by exercise or any intense activity.
AntioxCene was developed to support and optimize the Antioxidant System necessary for coping with the increased oxidative load associated with exercise. The rate of muscle recovery from exercise is dependent on the efficiency with which your body quenches the rapid rise of ROS/RNS from exercise.
AntioxCene helps maximize the body’s inherent antioxidant defense systems via a precise assortment of cofactors, coenzymes, and dietary polyphenols with potent redox potential in specific ratios and dosages. In doing so, the individual is protected from a potential pro-oxidant effect caused by an imbalanced intake of one antioxidant nutrient over another. The anti-oxidant network is a very intricate and complex system, where homeostatic balance may be disrupted by an irrational and haphazard approach to supplementation.
AntioxCene utilizes the ultimate in Rational Polysupplementation to avoid throwing a “kink” into the antioxidant regulatory system.
Muscle contractions from exercise are a potent trigger for muscle and tissue damage. This trigger occurs, in part, through the generation of
Free Radicals like reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS such as Nitric Oxide, Peroxynitrite, hydroxyl, and Superoxide). On the one hand, these substances are like signals for the body to induce the biochemical and molecular pathways necessary for recovery processes to occur. In other words, these free-radicals may be part of the initial signal for the muscle to start repairing itself. On the other hand, if left unchecked, these same substances can cause extensive damage to muscle cell membranes,
protein and DNA. Adaptation from training, in the form of muscle hypertrophy or enhanced muscle performance can only occur if skeletal muscles control and inhibit the free-radical induced tissue damage by way of a complex Antioxidant System which includes, Superoxide Dismutase, GlutathionePeroxidase/ Reductase and Catalase to prevent excessive muscle cell damage. Studies show that a specific type of muscle tissue may be more vulnerable to free – radicals: Type II fibers (muscles that have the greatest capacity to “grow” on weight training) involved in high intensity exercise have a decreased content of such protective antioxidant system compared to Type I (endurance) fibers, involved in low intensity exercise.
An additional effect of augmenting the
antioxidant defense system may be improved insulin sensitivity. Improving the muscle’s response to insulin-stimulated glucose and amino acid uptake may be an additional mechanism for improving the training effect over time. Enhancing skeletal muscle nutrient uptake is critical to individuals who are serious about maintaining the
anabolic drive and maximizing gains from training. AntioxCene™ may help muscles better absorb or “soak up” nutrients like amino acids and glucose from the blood. This enhanced nutrient uptake allows one to gain maximum amount of muscle compared to fat when consuming a high calorie diet and can help you retain lean body mass (muscle) while shedding unwanted fat when dieting and exercising. Improving insulin sensitivity and signaling promotes a nutrient partitioning effect to enhance body composition. Hence, AntioxCene provides yet another pathway of adaptation to complement the other

Ingredient AnalysisProanthocyanidins – A group of antioxidants found in grape seed, grape skin and red wine. They belong to a class or category of antioxidants belonging to the FLAVONOID family. Flavonoids are simply water-soluble plant pigments. Proanthocyanidins have potent antioxidant activities that may protect diabetics from the pro-oxidative state of the disease. Clinical studies suggest Proanthocyanidins help patients with chronic venous insufficiency and chronically “swollen legs”.
EGCG – short for Epigallocatechin gallate found in Green Tea. They belong to a class of compounds called Polyphenols. EGCG may decrease incidence of many cancers, arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions. Human studies have shown that EGCG may enhance fat-burning beyond the effects of caffeine alone with consistent diet and exercise.
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) – A derivative of the amino acid L – cysteine, can stimulate and support the synthesis and re-synthesis of glutathione (GSH), the antioxidant used by the body to protect itself from toxins in the environment and in the diet. NAC is used in medicine to protect the liver (from high dose acetaminophen toxicity) and kidneys from radiocontrast dye.
R-Alpha-Lipoic-Acid (R-ALA) – The R (+) enantiomer (specific molecular arrangement or structure of) lipoic acid, a cofactor in specialized cell structures called the mitochondria. The body needs lipoic acid to protect itself from oxygen radicals formed in metabolism. As such, it is potent water soluble antioxidant that scavenges free radicals. Its ability to interact with vitamin E and Glutathione (GSH) virtually eliminates ROS (reactive oxygen species). R-ALA also improves insulin sensitivity by
enhancing glucose transport into cells. Human studies have shown beneficial effects in help treating Type 2 diabetics.
Curcumin – also known as Tumeric, is found in yellow curry spice. The dosages found in AntioxCene have potent anti-oxidant activity. Higher dosages demonstrate anti-inflammatory activity (NfkappaB/TNF-alpha inhibition) and may help in inflammatory conditions, as well as in treating certain cancers.
Quercetin – found in onions, apples, green tea, black tea is another compound belonging to the class of antioxidants known as Flavonoids. Its anti-oxidant activities may protect arteries from oxidative damage from LDL peroxidation (“bad cholesterol”). Additionally, it has LOX (lipoxygenase) modulating capacity for addressing inflammatory conditions, via a decrease in LTB4 (leukotriene B4) series of eicosanoids.
Pycnogenol – another Flavonoid, which has shown to inactivate free radicals like superoxides, hydroxyl radicals, and may protect arteries from lipid peroxidation of LDL’s (or “bad cholesterol” which leads to atherosclerosis). In addition to its anti-oxidant activity, Pycnogenol also seems to lower blood sugar in Type 2 diabetics. Pycnogenol has helped in other conditions, from leg swelling to asthma, to high cholesterol. Pycnogenol may also help enhance endurance in athletes
Vitamin A – Fat-soluble vitamin also known as Retinol, is essential for normal growth, reproduction and maintenance of skin and vision.
Vitamin C – Water soluble vitamin that is essential in wound/tissue healing. This well known antioxidant has been shown in small studies to help atheletes recuperate from high intensity (with eccentric emphasis) exercise.
Vitamin E – This Fat-soluble vitamin appears in various natural forms in AntioxCene. The vitamin is a known anti-oxidant, but the formulation in AntioxCene contains a mix of natural tocopherols/tocotrienol and no synthetic analogs of vitamin E associated with possible pro-oxidant activity.
Biotin – a Coenzyme involved in many metabolic reactions including the metabolism of glucose.
Zinc –Trace metal that is essential in rapidly growing tissues and for wound healing. It is a co-factor in multiple antioxidant enzymes.
Copper – Trace metal that is a component of many metalloenzymes involved in cellular metabolism.
Selenium – Trace metal that is a component of glutathione peroxidase to protect cells from damage from peroxides.
